Nowadays pollution is the order of the day. Most people have an opinion on the issue and, independently of the views, it is commonly accepted that our world is overpopulated and that if we do nothing, things won’t have a happy ending. There are many forms of pollution; we have for example air, water and soil pollution. Pollution is considered to be the release of a substance to the environment that is likely to damage the ecosystem. In fact, we have always had pollution and the first emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere are considered to be the ones that aloud our very existence. This is due to the fact that carbon dioxide has a really important property; it absorbs heat emitted by the earth and thus warms the atmosphere. It is also a fact that Developed countries were the ones that polluted the most, because they developed their economies first. With the industrial revolution, these countries started producing manufactured goods, which typically damage more the environment. However, since developed countries were a minority, pollution had a limited impact on daily life. The great divergence between Developed and Developing countries ended a time ago and countries like China and Brazil have nowadays a great economic power. They are able to produce huge quantities of goods, at a lower cost due to their lower wages. Thus both Developed and Developing countries are polluting the world, which is the real problem. First we do not need all the products that are being produced, second we cannot continue to have these levels of pollution, or there will be severe consequences.
