In the midst of a rampaging war, nations rely on the power of propaganda to rally their people for the war effort. More often than not however, propaganda presents just one side of the story. It is in my belief that the use of propaganda shields the people from the real truth about wars - there is no winner in a war. Both sides will suffer heavy casualties and the everyday lives of the people will without a doubt be disrupted. Therefore I believe that Al Jeezera and Fox News are the same evils in disguise.
It is often seen on American media that the Middle East suffers from depravity of information and that the people only receive information that is allowed them by the government. However, Al-Jazeera is perhaps the most open and complete source of information in any current day media and therefore must be a heavy target of American propaganda. Al Jeezera is an Arabic channel that originated from the nation of Qatar located in the Middle East. In the movie, Control Room, Al Jeezera mostly contains news coverage about the war occurring in the Middle East and they mostly focus on the tragedy of hostilities that are occurring. An example would be in the movie, during the commercials of Al Jeezera and their broadcast on the war, they would show images of injured civilians that were caught in between the war with the United States. I believe this would manipulate the viewers into thinking the United States is an evil nation and further fuel the flames of war. Scenes of American bombs killing women and children are common on the Al Jeezera News station and is used for the sole purpose of keeping the hatred for America going.
Aside from receiving sympathy, they would also show dead people in masses to instigate the situation of the war occurring to blow the situation out of proportion. I believe their reason to these one sided story is to haul in more viewers and help them pick a side within this war. Within their news station, they have received many bad critics...
