Allied Reflection
The body of this paper will be a reflection on the Allied Speaker Mr. Mark Geil. Mrs. Mark Geil is an assistant professor of biomechanics here at Georgia State. His titled is bio mechanist. His job as a bio mechanist is to study how humans interact with the environment. He applies mechanical principles to human functioning. Human functioning includes walking, running, crawling, and all the other ways in which the body moves. Biomechanics deals with engineering also. It includes items that are made to help the human properly move and maneuver with mechanical properties. The engineering aspect takes in account the biological systems and their performances and makes them work by means and methods of mechanics.
Here at Georgia State, Mr. Mark Geil has taught many classes, both undergrad and graduate. Some of the classes he has instructed include 3600, 7510, 8870, and 2220. As a professor, he stated that his job includes teaching, research, and service. He gives service by being a member of the Gait Analysis Society, which is one of the many organizations that he participates with. Mr. Geil was inspired by his father who was an engineer for IMB. He stated that engineering was in his genes. Mr. Mark Geil decided to take the path into engineering when he was introduced to it at his high school career fair. He then went on to pursue a degree in engineering. He earned a degree in engineering at North Carolina State and then furthered his education at ‘’The” Ohio State. He knew he like engineering, but he wanted to do something more that could keep his interest. He was introduced to biomechanics while conversing with medical residents at “The” Ohio State. They spoke with him about prosthetics. He saw how engineering fit in with human movement and knew that’s what career would be best for him. His deal of bio mechanics deals with prosthetics and their use and how to improve them. He stated that an interested person can start his or her...
