Am I Liberal or Conservative
I think I’m more conservative than most people, but before I get into how I’m conservative I need to describe liberal and conservative. A liberal believes in things like deficit spending abortion and same sex marriage. A conservative tends to believe in things like a balanced budget war on terrorism and a free market economy. A liberal believes the government should handle everything from personal liberties to the environment. A conservative believes everyone should make it on their own. They believe in personal achievement and restricted government. Here are three reasons why I’m a conservative.
Affirmative action is using race as a reason for preferential treatment. Some people believe we owe it to African Americans to make up all the years of racism with favoritism. Being a senior in high school and going to college next year I will have to work to pay for college. I would hope that I could find a job without being judged by the color of my skin. I think we should be judged by personal achievements instead of my race. It’s my belief that reverse racism in absolutely not a solution for the racism of the past. Martin Luther King’s speech “I have a dream” talks about all God’s children, not just black children.
Another reason I am a conservative is the issue of illegal immigration. Specifically a blanket amnesty. I think people should be allowed to enter the country under certain provisions. First they have to enter legally. There are too many ways to legally enter the United States to hop fences and sneak in. second they must pass some kind of nationalization test. This would include screenings background checks and a six month parole-like system. This means that a government official can randomly search and investigate immigrants to make sure they aren’t breaking laws or abusing the privilege of being a United States citizen.
The last reason I am a conservative is deficit spending. I am against spending what we don’t have....
