Specific Purpose: The financial generosity would allow the American Diabetes Association to further research new therapies to the market sooner.

Introduction
I. Both sets of my grandparents have diabetes. My father has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. The risk of me getting diabetes is extremely high. So I try to watch my salt and sugar intake daily. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of you with the some problem.
II. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life.

Last year I had to do a speech on any subject of my choice. I choose diabetes because my family history and all. When doing my research I found out a lot of interesting fact and diseases that goes along with diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fighting for those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes (ADA).

Thesis: Provide a better understanding and treatment to the general public about diabetes through the American Diabetes Association.

I will begin by explaining diabetes and the diseases that come along with it. I will also show why the American Diabetes Association supports more than 23.6 million people a year with this disease.

There is no cure for diabetes, but the ADA’s (American Diabetes Association) commitment to ongoing diabetes research promotes: a pipeline of new investigators, knowledge about diabetes, eventual cure, and treatment and self- management strategies.
