1. INTRODUCTION

The general theme of the working paper is related to the title of the journal article, namely “What do CEOs Really Think of Their Boards.” The authors tapped their networks and interviewed dozens of well renowned chief executive officers. The main research question for the CEOs was regarding the issue of what is keeping boards from being as effective as they could be in the light of the crises in the recent years as well as the notions of how responsible the boards of directors should have been. The authors have chosen this path since they observed that many stakeholders, such as corporate watchdogs, analysts, investors, regulators, media, etc. have proposed guidelines and possibilities of new practices; however the voice of CEOs was missing and the article sheds their opinions to light through 5 sets of advices for the boards.
