Yo yo yo Jamie’s here with some facts on ancient Egyptian fashion. Some of you might know that the Egyptians were very picky about what they wore and were very fashionable people. They were always concerned about their appearance and what people thought of them. They wanted to be remembered in history for all the years to come.

First in Egyptian fashion is women’s fashion. The rich women wore long and luxurious dresses with beads and gold sewn on to them the women’ dresses were very tight dresses that were usually white, becuae it would keep them cool on the extreme heat of the desert, the dresses were long and would drape down to their ankles. Young girls were nude in the summer, and slave girls wore only skimpy panties.

Second in Egyptian fashion is men’s fashion. The richer Egyptian men would wear big elaborate robes with lots of beads and gold sewn on to them. They also wore big headdress. The middle-class men and poorer men wore white linen cloths around their waste, tied as a skirt. Boys only wore clothes when they reached the age of 13, before that they dressed in the nude. When they got their first piece of clothing, it was a sign of beginning man-hood.

Third in Egyptian fashion is makeup. All women and all most all men wore makeup. The women wore red lip powder on their lips, green, gray or black powder on their eyes, and they used black Kohl for eye liner. The men wore black eye liner and black eye shadow.

Last but not lest on my list in Egyptian fashion is footwear. I know it’s not the funnest thing to talk about but let’s talk about it anyway. Footwear was not very important in the Egyptian culture. Commoner, slaves, and workers went barefoot. All of the rich Egyptians wore sandals on special occasions. The sandals were either made out of leather or weaving, that were tied with two thongs.   People living around the Mediterranean had little need for elaborate footwear, with exceptions like the Hittites in their...
