Midsummers Night Dream By Seán Bennett
I got up this morning to the shouts of my mother telling me to get out of bed right now and hurry on into the kitchen. I slowly got out of bed, slid off my nightgown and put on my sheepskin dress expecting to clean out the toilet bucket again, seen as my mom mostly did it an I was reaching the age of having to do it myself she would yell up at me and tell me to do it. I quickly washed my face from the basin of water in the make-shift washing room and went into the kitchen.
My mom and dad were sitting at the simple oak table in our small kitchen. I never really did complain about the size of things in our house, since dad was a merchant who bought things from foreign traders and then would sell them for a bit of profit in a different city or village. So we managed to get by and as a result had a bigger house than most people who lived in down town London, we managed to have food, a small fireplace, separate sleeping rooms and a small washing room.
I looked at my mom, still not fully awake ‘’would you like me to take out the waste bucket again’’ I said whilst yawning. ‘’No need for that right now darling, we our going somewhere special today. Today at noon, we are going to see Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night Dream!’’ my mom said. I did not know who this Shakespeare was but I was really going enjoy heading off to the theatre to watch a play. Watching a play would beat doing chores all day any day.
At about eleven forty we left our house in downtown London and went off to the globe theatre. I had only seen the outside of it whenever dad let me come with him to the marketplace. Now I was going into it. We walked toward the front gate where the guards were waiting to let us into the standing area. I could not wait, I was going to tell everyone that I had seen a play in the globe theatre and that I had seen a Shakespeare play.
At noon the guards opened the doors to the theatre and we all walk onto the grounds of the globe....
