Animal Farm by George Orwell After the rebellion happened at Manor Farm, the animals had some very idealistic ideas for their future. All the good things that Major had made them believe in was a dream now. They wanted it to come true. They wrote the seven commandments because they thought that the key to their dreams was to make those rules. Moses made the animals believe in a sugar candy mountain that had all the food they wanted and no one could tell them what to do, in a sense he was talking about heaven. Snowball taught the animals about the luxuries and the short workdays, hot and cold water, and even more good things. Even if the animals did not get any of those they still always wanted to be free from human control. There were big changes at Animal Farm that could be related to some of the happenings in the Soviet Union at one time. The animals started of with dreams that would soon turn into nightmares. The society that they wanted to make was made up of 7 commandments. The animals made a mistake when they started saying that the pigs were the brains of the farm, because the pigs started taking over the decision-making. As the animal farm started growing, the so-called leader Napoleon started doing the things that the humans did. He broke a commandment of talking to humans, and started making trades with them. The more and more the pigs interacted with the humans the more they became like them. They slowly started having 2 social classes, the pigs are a high class and the other animals are low class. Napoleon started becoming greedy and wanted to make more money, so he made the animals work harder and gave them little food. The animals that did not obey Napoleon were executed; he did this to maintain his power. The pigs started drinking alcohol.
