Annie Lebovitz

Annie Lebovitz- an American portrait photographer born in 1949 in Connecticut. She started her adventure with art in High- School, latter she managed to pass exams for San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied painting. After graduating the school, she was developing her skills while working in several jobs or during spending time with family and making photos of them. In 1970 after coming back to U.S. she decided to apply for a job in Rolling Stone magazine. Lebovitz was working there until 1983, during this time she developed significance of whole magazine, what is more her talent started to be recognised in the artist community. Afterwards, from 1983 Annie was an independent photographer of Vanity Fair. Moreover, that year brings her two big private successes, i.e. first exhibition and publication of her own book. Her fame and talent in making photos helps her to be the part of the most famous magazines such as: Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Life, Paris Match, London Independent Magazine, Stern.
She is strictly connected with famous music artists and bands. First professional session with well- know people was initiated in 1971/72 in San Francisco and it was band Rolling Stones. Her mission was to catch all essential moments from the famous one: Rolling Stones Tour of the Americas '75, in her opinion the most interesting photo was one of Mick Jager in the elevator. Next was John Armatrading, in 1978 she was supposed to prepare photography for Armatrading's fifth studio album
“To the Limit”. Capturing all photos took them four days. One of the most significant episodes with famous artist, was obviously this one with John Lennon. It took place in 1980, photograph session was carried out for Rolling Stone magazine, artist from Beatles supposed to be on the cover of the next publication.
