Since its birth, the millennial generation has experienced a rapid change in the pace of life. People today are focused more on getting to the next big thing and not living in the present. They feel as if they cannot slow down. This new racing way of life has had many negative effects in the lives of millennials. Some of these are divorce, children not getting attention, a lack of down time, stress, sickness due to that stress, and many more. As the pace of life increases, the amount of family time is dwindling and becoming scarce. Family members’ attention is either going to technological toys or work, and families are getting left behind. People no longer make appointments with business partners, but instead must appoint time away from work to spend with their spouse, parents, and children.
While there have been a lot of negative effects like I mentioned in the first paragraph, there have also been countless debates on this topic and how it is affecting the population of this generation. On one hand, people think that technology is at fault for affecting the relationships of families, but some feel it is the pressure that people must spend extra time at work to get ahead. They would say that there is no way we would have all that we have discovered now if the technology had not been invented. Their reasoning would be also that we would not have been able to do this without the pace of life driving us to perpetual advancement. All in all, there many different thoughts on how the pace of life is affecting the population and if there should be something changed or not.
