PREAMBLE

The family, kin group and descent are one of the major concepts of cultural anthropology .They are essential parts of the totality of life, It comprises individuals with related blood ties, origin, and synonymous societal way of life. They exhibit certain features , such as values, norms, roles , and ideologies in order to exist successfully in the society. Basically , This above societal aspect of life have certain features/attributes that links them together, This piece of writing would be considering those links they have in common

FAMILY

The family is the smallest and pivot institution in the society . In human context it is seen as a group of people affiliated by consanguinity (by recognized birth), affinity (by marriage) or co-residence/shared consumption(nurture kinship). Members of the immediate family may include a spouse , parents , brother & sister, and son daughter . Members of the extended family may include grand parent , aunt , uncle , cousin , nephew, and niece, or sibling-in-law .In most societies the family is the principal institution for the socialization of children.



KIN GROUP

Kin group is a social network of relatives within which individuals possess certain mutual rights and obligations . One’s position in this network or kin - ship status , determines what these rights & obligations are. Kin group can also refer to a principle by which individuals or groups of individuals are organized into social group, , roles , categories , and genealogy.
