America The Beautiful#5.he isn't so much as arguing with the idea of having a worldwide empire, but more the advantges and rewards that being an american and living in this country offers. He talks about our government, and the way we practice religion and are the "go to" country when other coutries need help. He talks about the opportunity that people receive here and how we are a country of freedom. In Beveridge's "The March of The Flag" he tlaks more about how The United States is a better country than others because those countries do certain things differntly or "wrong" in his opinion. He talks more about what other countries do that we consider incorrect rather than what we do that is helpful and right. #1. exceptionalism- America is proud to embrace many idfferent opinions and ideas. We are a country full of many beliefs and we are allowed to express them. He talks about how America has the moral self-confidence. Universalism- America is the ocuntry that other countries turn to for help. We are a nation that is unlike any other, and we strive to be differnt from other countries, yet try and mold other countries into being more like us. #2. I don't completely agree with his view. We as a country would not have been able to come this far, win every war but one, and be united after september 11th if we didn't have moral-confidence. On the other hand, there aren't as big of debates in any other country liek ours, where even though we are the "United" states, we are still very much seperated by different views. If our country could come together with a majority of the same beliefs, we would be more united and indestructable.
