Descriptive and inferential statistics both have similarities that allow researchers to make judgment decisions on different types of behaviors, or to discover the meaning behind those behaviors. Each analyzes, describes, and predicts what a population’s behaviors will be. Statistics are used, wanted and needed for areas of research (Shaughnessy J, 2009).
The differences in descriptive statistics and inferential statistics use descriptive statistics as tool to describe basic data. They provide samples with simple explanations. They also provide quantitative analysis for the same data. Descriptive statistics provide people with an easy way to read the data/ and also reduces large batches of data into smaller and easier read samples (Shaughnessy J, 2009).
