Area of Interest Assignment
One of the areas of applied behaviour analysis that have been covered in this course includes autism. As a result, it was opportune to chose a video that relates to the concept of applied behaviour analysis. This is the main objective as to why the video on the face of autism (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7kHSOgauhg) was chosen. There are various challenges in applied behaviour analysis that are at times neglected because people fail to understand how autism develops. In watching the video, it is true that one can how autism and its signs appears overtime and how the situation was as soon as diagnosis was made after 21 months. In addition, this video does not only offer signs of autism but creates awareness on the society, teachers as well as service groups that deal with social work to create positive educational training.
Another aspect that can be learnt from the video is on how one can overcome self rejection and become part of the society regardless of his or her situation. The other dimension seen in the video is that the bright child who had autism received loving support from the society, an indication that his future looked brighter as compared to many other children with the same situation who do not get the opportunity to propser. There are specific question related to ABA that can be highlighted from the video. For instnace, it shows how parents can pick up the pieces and reject the idea of being set aside by the society. As a result, parents start feeling that autism is not an end to life but there are ways through which the child can receive support and continue living life to the fullest. On the other hand, tehre are questions as to why there is much focus on children with autism while those who are grown up and who have the same condition are at times neglected.
