In the picture I have been given on the left top there is a woman who is lying on her back and she has her eyes closed. Someone is pouring some oil on her forehead. On the right top there is a jug and a glass of tea with two sugar cubes beside. Finally, on the bottom of this picture there are many different kinds of spices, seeds, plants. The picture and the caption which says……...are related to the option ‘Health’. There are so many aspects of the issue, but I focused on the topic that this picture represents which is Ayurvedic medicine. This medicine is one of traditional medicines, which is also called an alternative medicine. Alternative medicine is a variety of therapeutic or preventive health care practices that do not follow generally accepted medical methods and may not have a scientific explanation for their effectiveness.
Literally Indian word Ayurveda means “life-knowledge”. This is one of the world's oldest holistic (whole-body) healing systems. It developed thousands of years ago in India. The primary focus of Ayurvedic medicine is to promote good health, rather than fight disease. But treatments may be recommended for specific health problems. According to Ayurvedic theory, everything in the universe -- living or not -- is connected. Good health is achieved when your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe. A disruption of this harmony can lead to poor health and sickness. Some things that can cause a disruption include:

• genetic or birth defects
• injuries
• climate and seasonal changes
• age
• emotions
A main goal of Ayurvedic medicine is to cleanse your body of undigested food, which can stick to the inside of your body and make you sick. It is used to reduce any symptoms and reestablish harmony and balance. The treatments may include:

• blood purification (either by removing blood from the body or with special teas)
• massage
• medical oils given through the nose
