ASSIGNMENT 1: Orientation paper
Select a company that has closed the loop with some sort of product recovery (material, component, or product level). To find such a company you can check the literature (there are some examples in the articles provided in the literature), sustainability rankings/lists of companies that were discussed in class or the websites of companies which you already know that are involved in this business. Having selected a company, 1. Gather as much relevant information as you can, combining multiple sources (just copying the content of the company’s website is not appreciated; see below). 2. identify and describe the various stakeholders and activities in the closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) of that company. Identify and describe the relevant processes (i.e. related to product acquisition, reprocessing, remarketing). 3. Discuss what kind of value can be generated for the various stakeholders. 4. Based on your previous analysis, discuss the key success factors and potential bottlenecks that should be carefully considered for the success of this particular CLSC. In total you need to hand in a 2 A4 Word document (excluding pictures and tables). As already stated above, you can benefit from articles in the literature to select and analyze your company. However, please do not copy and paste!. Argue using your own words, combining multiple sources, and, if necessary, draw your own diagrams. You may use existing cases in literature, but then enhance them with recent data and your own comments/interpretations. In other words, you need to convince us about your contribution.
Evaluation criteria: 1. Logical and convincing argumentation (60%) 2. Originality (20%) 3. Overall presentation, that is professional look-and-feel (20%)
