I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: I think you need to live with an autistic person to truly understand the impact it can have on that person and the people around him or her. So instead of technical terms right now, I'm going to share with you some of my own experiences. My brother has been diagnosed as moderately autistic, which means he’s “high functioning.” But it is still a long, hard battle – a battle that is going to continue for the rest of his life. Being the sister of an Autistic child is quite challenging, but can also be very rewarding. Things that people take for granted with so called ‘normal’ children can be quite the task for an Autistic child, so when there’s a breakthrough, everyone gets ecstatic about it. It is like overcoming the impossible. Yes, you need a lot of patience. It's not easy to live with a person who is autistic, but I love my brother very much and I wouldn't want him any other way.
B. Reason to Listen: Autism is one of the disorders that are starting to effect more and more children, many people around us, and many of our family members are born Autistic and it’s important to know the information about it.
