Critically evaluate the contour of the strategy cached out by the belligerent in the “operation Barbarossa”, also discuss the results of the aforesaid operation with respect to the major dimensions of strategy that came into play?

The invasion of USSR by the Germany in 1941 was the wish of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler long ago. In his book “Mein Kampf” (My struggle) 1925, he clearly mentioned his belief to invade USSR for the sack of his idealogy of German superiority over other nations and “lebensraum” (living space i.e. land and raw materials). So for the imposition of his idealogy, to report the inferiors and to recolonise USSR, he issued directive 21 in December 1940 to invade USSR. According to planning USSR will be attacked on 15th May, 1941 using strategy of Blitzkrieg (lightening war) in a surprise attack and USSR will be invaded in a single campaign during summer. There is no doubt that the blitzkrieg way of war was very successful in Western Europe. Czechoslovakia, Poland, Denmark and France were defeated in quick and decisive campaigns by blitzkrieg way of war. Adolf Hitler was overconfident due to his initial success in Western Europe therefore he started the campaign to invade USSR in a quick and decisive battle but the high command of his army was not in the favour of USSR invasion because they were already fighting with Great Britain on western front. It was foolishness to start another battle front before the completion of 1st front against Great Britain.
Adolf Hitler thought if USSR will be defeated in a quick and decisive war, then Great Britain would come to negotiating table easily and it was time to attack USSR before it build a strong army and attack Germany.
