Benefits of Higher Education
I have always thought that getting a higher education was not worth it because of how much it cost to get a degree. Now that I am older I think it is a benefit to get a higher education. I always wondered why many of my teachers were pushing me to go to college. Now I know why because with college degree you can get a better job, have many great and different experiences, learn better skills and critical thinking and the advancement in wages and improve the way you and your family live.
Endless opportunities await you with a higher education. I believe the best way to start your educational career is by going to a community college. I would start at a community college first because you can get your beginning studies out of the way while striving towards your associates degree. The advantages are that you can save lot of money at a two-year institution than a four-year university and it helps you grow and become an adult before you enter a university. Another opportunity is being able to meet many people from many different cultural backgrounds. I think this is fun because my high school did not have too many different cultures. I think this helps you in getting a higher education because it makes you realize how many people are in this great world of ours. With great opportunity comes increasing knowledge.
Increasing knowledge does not only come from books, but it also comes from independence. When you go to college you are living on your own for the very first time. You do not have your parents making your hard decisions or pushing you to do your homework and to succeed. I know that once I left for college I had nobody to push me to do the stuff I needed to do. If I failed to get everything I had to face the consequences. I feel that college wants you to make mistakes but have you learn from them.
