What is the source of homosexuality?

I picked the question because I was personally interested in the ultimate source of homosexuality, since there are different opinions regarding whether homosexuality should be embraced or not. Some people believe that homosexuality should be accepted. For example, Obama, the President of USA, said in his speech “Homosexuality is not a Choice” that discrimination based on loving whom is morally wrong. On the other hand, according to the Bible, which all Christians consider as the ultimate source of truth, homosexuality is a sin (or abomination) and is not acceptable, as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. However, if it is true, then apparently there is no reason that God had created homosexuality. The answer for this question is important because it can determine people’s attitude toward homosexuality. For example, if the answer is that the homosexuality is an inborn trait, then more people (heterosexuals) will try to embrace homosexuals, since homosexuals could have done nothing to avoid homosexuality. On the other hand, if the answer is that homosexuality is an acquired trait, then people would not really try to embrace homosexuals, and homosexuals will try to change themselves to heterosexuals, since they know that homosexuality can be lost (if homosexuality can be acquired, then heterosexuality can be acquired and homosexuality can be lost as well).
Different people have different opinions about the source of the homosexuality. Some believe that homosexuality resulted from simple mutation (related to mere chance) not related to God’s will. However, this view may contradict the Christian worldview, since it means (the consequence of believing so) that existence of homosexuality is independent from God and that God doesn’t exist or that God is not powerful or good enough to stop homosexuality.
