Introduction

My degree is in Criminal Justice and with this degree there are several different career pathways. Image of God refers to how a human is rather than what a person has or does (Etzel, G., & Gutierrez, B. 2012). I have always been a person who wanted to help others and know the plan God has in store for me is within the criminal justice field. Living on this earth in God’s image and being within the criminal justice field it is important that at all times I remain grounded in my faith and I meet God’s expectations of representing him on earth (Etzel, G., & Gutierrez, B. 2012). I will be focusing on how someone who works within the criminal justice field must accept that someone is innocent until proven guilty, and that everyone is treated equally while remaining grounded in my morals.


Example 1

In Romans 2:1 we learn that “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things” (New International Version). It is important when working with people that have potentially committed a crime not to pass judgment on them. Matthew 7:1 reminds us “"Do not judge, or you too will be judged” (New International Version). For instance if a man was accused of molesting a child it is my duty to set aside my own personal feelings and allow the justice system to prevail. Working within the criminal justice field it is important to protect and help citizens and ensure that the citizens feel that the justice system will work according to its purpose. Truth has to be at the forefront of every individual’s mind that works within the criminal justice field. The word “truth” “denotes something that conforms to actuality, is faithful to a standard, or involves sincerity or integrity” (Etzel, G., & Gutierrez, B. 2012).
