The most influential and well known man to the IT world, and one of the most well-known men in the world, once started a speech to a graduating class with these words. “I applaud the graduates today for taking a much more direct route to your degrees. For my part, I’m just happy that the Crimson has called me “Harvard’s most successful dropout.” I guess that makes me valedictorian of my own special class … I did the best of everyone who failed.” That was a speech given to HARVARD graduates, if that doesn’t tell you what kind of man Bill Gates is, than I don’t know what will. As a dreamer of dreams, Gates became the richest man in America, and changed the world as we know it. Back in the day, your average person would go through their daily working life with just your simple pen and paper. Little did those people know that on October 28th, 1955, Bill Gates would change that forever. Today when you hear the name Gates, you immediately think of something to do with a computer. When you think of a computer, you think of your phone. When you think of your phone, I’d ask what exactly would you do without that little piece of metal the we revolve our daily lives around. That technology started with the dream of a college drop-out. Inspired? I know I was, and the further I dug into the life of the amazing man that he is, it unfolded so many things that I had never heard nor thought of regarding his life. Not only his life but the generous and loving man and family the Gates’ are. They revolve their lives around doing things for others. While yes they are some of the richest people on the planet, and have done more for the future of America in IT than anyone can compare, they stay humble and committed to helping others. They are not Kim and Kanye, they choose to stay out of the limelight and in the business of improving lives.
