Biometric Technologies as solution for crimes.
Biometrics means life measurement but the term is usually associated with the use of unique physiological characteristics to indentify an individual. Biometrics is mostly applied in security system. A number of biometric traits have been created and they are used to authenticate a person’s identity. The idea is to use the special characteristics and behavioral traits of a person to identify them. Biometrics can be divided into two classes. First is physiological biometric such as face, fingerprint, hand geometry and iris recognition. Second is behavioral biometrics such as signature and voice recognition. Biometric is popular and widely used because it is very secure and convenient method to indentify someone.
Prevent Crimes with Biometric Technology
There is many methods and technology was created to identify a person and prevent crime in past such as password, ID cards, Smart cards, RFID Cards, and Wrist Bands. But it did not worked well and failed to prevent crimes because it can be easily stolen, easily duplicated, some cards got limits. Password is still one of the common security system used widely which has many disadvantages such as it need to be change frequently, it is easily forgotten, and can be easily hacked. To solve this, we need an approach which can uniquely identify an authorized person, easy to operate, and most importantly to prevent crimes.
Fingerprint authentication is the one common and widely used biometric technology. It is used widely because they are inexpensive to collect and analyze, and they never change even as people age. Fingerprints are very unique because a fingerprint cannot be same with others. There are 6 classes of fingerprints patterns. Arch, Tented Arch Left Loop, Right Loop, Whorl, and Twin Loop. Fingerprint is a biometric technology that can help to prevent crime because...
