*Bird a *Fine Movie “The Life and Death of Charlie Parker” By: James Hart MUS 201, Section 02 Location: Chamisa Apartments I thought the movie was very good for the reason that it gave me anin depth look into one of the best saxophone players of the jazz era. The movie stayed pretty true to his lifeand follow as he played with a lot of the greats like Dizzie Gillespie, Thelonious Monk. The movie had a lot of Saxophone, and piano solos. There was a lot of solo improvisation as well as collective improvisation. The music that was played in the movie was Lester Leaps In, I Can’t Believe That You’re in Love with Me, Laura, All of Me, this time the Dream’s on Me, Ko Ko, Cool Blues, April in Paris, Now’s the Time, Ornithology, and Parker’s Mood. In conclusion, I thought that the movie did a lot of justice to one of the greatest musicians in history, although it was a tragic end for Charlie Parker because of heroin. I would definitely recommend this movie to a friend.

Forest Whitaker plays the role of Bird, and I thought that he did a really good job.
