Notes From the Second Part of the Lecture
Use these notes to find what will be definitely on the test. Make sure you remember to study any lecture notes that are provided. They will be useful, for the notes that are taken will definitely be on the test that you will take for chapter 1 in your book. Reading also helps but notes from the reading will be provided after the lecture notes.

Inside the system unit-
Circuit boards-provide connections to other device
-Sound card-provides connection for sound and speakers
-Video card-provides connection to the monitor
-Modem card-provides connection to the internet
-network interface card-enables your computer to connect with others
-Motherboard-all the other boards connect to this board
CPU-(central processing unit)
-most important chip
-referred to as the ‘brain’
-controls all the functions performed
RAM-(random access memory)
-storage space
-sometimes is referred to primary storage
-consists of memory modules (memory cards)
-not permanent but temporary (volatile)
**Both are on the motherboard**
ROM-(read only memory)
-starting and booting up the computer
-permanent
-instruction on here for the computer to start
