December 20 It’s finally Christmas break and everyone is going on vacation. Rachel went to Bermuda, Grace went to Florida, and guess where I got to go?!?!Nowhere! My family never goes on vacations. So I was stuck home for a week without my two best friends. I wasn’t going to just sit home and feel sorry for myself though. I decided to be ‘clever’ as my mother said and plan my own “vacation”for a day in Boston. My first stop was having breakfast at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. It was a great place to sketch things. I sketched other people sitting around me, my cup of tea,I even sketched the bill when the waiter brought it to me. He seemed kind of annoyed, so I finally left. That’s when I went to my second stop to shop at Filene’s Bargain Basement. I usually always go shopping with my mother, but this time I was finally on my own. I found these awesome panties that were all different colors with squiggly lines all over them, and my mother wasn’t there this time to talk my out of buying them. I left the store with a big smile on my face looking forward to wearing them! I decided to go to the museum of fine arts next to do some sketches. As soon as I got up the stairs I went straight to my favorite painting: Le Bal a Bougival. I started drawing the life size dancing couple. As I was starting to get lost in the painting wishing I were the lady dancing with the red headed guy,I heard my name. I turn around and there’s Murphy sitting next to me. I couldn’t decide if I should get the heck out ofthere or stay around and talk to him. Before I could make a decision he told me it was his favorite painting, and I admitted it was mine as well. He told me how he has a book on Renoir that tells all about this painting. I’m actually listening to the words coming out of this kid’s mouth...and truthfully I’m enjoying spending time with him.
