The Blurred Lines on the Ethics of Abortion
The topic of abortion has and always be a very controversial one. You stand on either side of the line. Pro-Choice or Pro-Life, it would be almost impossible to be both. The right given to us by the Constitution has been contested time and time again by both opposing sides. There are many determining factors of each side that hold truth. What it mainly comes down to be is “What do you believe is right or wrong?” There is no right or wrong answer either for that matter. There will be people on one side and still agree with valid points on the other side. That doesn’t mean that it becomes a wrong or unethical, it just means that nothing is black and white. Abortions take on many forms for different reasons which are the main reasons for its controversies. We may be compassionate to the fact that a family can’t take care of a deformed baby or that a twelve year old was raped when the decision for an abortion is made. But there are times when we hear of just selfishness where the woman just doesn’t want a baby with that partner or it is not the baby girl they were hoping for. These are the issues we must argue when we are given that right to us in black and white in the Constitution. Other issues arise when we start discussing the manners in which the abortions are performed. They way and the timing of the abortion being performed are the primary reasons why this debate has not come to any conclusions between the opposing sides.
To better understand just what an abortion is we will take the time to define the word abortion. It is defined as any premature expulsion of a human fetus, whether naturally spontaneous, as in a miscarriage, or artificially induced, as in surgical or chemical abortion.
