Don’t be scared
It all started the night of my birthday, as I was walking home from a stressful day of work. I heard a high pitch scream coming from an abandoned house, almost like someone was sliding their nails down a chalkboard. So I looked at the old house with curiosity, I’ve always been intrigued by them. I wondered what had just happened. As I drew closer, I could see flashes of light at the very top of the house. So I decided it was my duty to find out the source of the horrific noise.
I opened the old rusted out gate to what was once a magnificent house with a decorative border all around the house. The brilliant colors were just a memory now, faded and peeling from the house. I walked up to the front door and gently tried to open it, but it was locked.
I looked through the main window that looked into what used to be the very elegant living room. Then I saw a blur of what I thought was the shape of a woman. I started to bang on the window yelling, “Hey lady! Are you ok?” No response. At this point I knew I had to figure out what was going on. My heart was beating out of my chest with the adrenaline rushing through my body. I ran to the back door of the house and when I grabbed the doorknob it was all rusted over but it opened.
As I enter the house, the smell of mothballs immediately hit me, it was so intense that it made me cover my mouth and nose with my hands. I yelled out, “Is anybody here?” Still nothing. I started to walk around the inside of the house. It’s started to get dark with the sun setting outside. I think I hear the faint pitter-patter of rain starting, great I thought to myself.
Then I heard it again, that same horrific, screeching sound. Now it sounds like it’s coming from up stairs. As I ran up the stairs, I ran into a spider web, which stuck to my face. I stopped immediately and I started to desperately try to get the sticky web off. Once I got it off, I...
