Energy Investigation Analysis
The purpose of this experiment was to use a strip of aluminum foil, a battery, and a little light bulb and get the bulb lighted up. I accomplished this by doing what my hypothesis said which was “If I connect the aluminum foil to the positive and negative side of the battery and then connect the other ends to the bulb then the bulb will light up because electrical energy can pass through the aluminum foil and light the bulb up from the positive and negative energy from the battery”.
In this investigation, the first step I did was to gather my materials (battery D, a little bulb, a thin strip of foil). Then I took my aluminum strip and rolled it up into a pipe-shape. Next, I used the masking tape to tape the end of the strip to the negative side of the battery then I placed the bulb on the positive side of the battery. Next, I placed the other end of the foil on the side of the battery. The bulb didn't light up.
The next configuration I attempted was to first unattached everything. Next, I cut the foil in half and rolled it back up into a pipe-shape and flattened it with the battery. Then I attached one of the strips foil (strip 1) end to the negative side of the battery with masking tape then I attached the other foil strip (strip 2) to the positive side of the battery. Next I got the bulb and attached both ends of strip 1&2 to the side of the bulb and then the bulb lit up.
Once I got my materials, I took the aluminum foil strip and rolled it up into a pipe shape. Then I split the strip in half and rolled both strips flat. After I rolled the strips, I attached one of the strips end to the negative side of the battery (strip 1) then I attached the other strips end to the positive side of the battery (strip 2).
