Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for getting rid of the "without parole" portion of Brandon's sentence thus making him eligible for parole in 10 years. This was very kind of you to do. But the reason I am writing this letter to is to please ask of you to release Brandon Hein and all the other kids involved in the death of Jimmy Farris before you leave office because I feel what took place in the trial was unjust. I am a resident of New Jersey and I am a student at West Morris Mendham High School. In my America Legal class, we have been reviewing this case for about two weeks. We read an article and watched a documentary on it. I have also heard of this case from people that I respect such as my priest.
I feel that Brandon Hein should be released from prison because what went on in the court case was unjust and Brandon already served 15 years in prison for something he should have gotten no jail time for. Since Jason Holland admitted to the court that he was the one who killed Jimmy Farris, he should have been the only one convicted of murder. If justice was served, all the other kids should have been let go and Jason should have been charged with third degree murder because the murder was not an intentional nor was it preplanned Brandon is basically paying time for something he did not do. Although he made bad decisions such as underage drinking and buying drugs, he proved himself worthy to be an honorable member of society through the things he accomplished in jail. He did this by making good use of his time by teaching himself to become an artist and writer, he took college correspondence courses, and he talked and advised kids on decision making. All these things show that Brandon will mesh well with the society and can be something in life.
You announced that you will be leaving office in 2011 and I beg of you to please release Brandon Hein and his friends from prison. Brandon is a good kid and...
