Today I learn something about how “practice makes perfect”. I thought talking in front of the class is just like you do chatting with your friends, so just do it and let it flow, but I was wrong. I was nervous and run out of words.
Presenting something even about ourselves in front of the audience in my class is not an easy task, whereas for someone else, it’s just a piece of cake. One of the big problems is how to overcome the nervousness. The best way to solve it is by practice more.
Communication is not just a theory, it do really need a lot of practices. There many things we should learn before do a speaking in front of people, such as:
* How to deal with the limited time
* How to synchronize what we say with our body language
* How to manage the microphone
* How to give expression
If I have to talk in front of my class again, I will practice at home. The activities I must do at home are try to speak in front of mirror to correct my body language and my expression and to hold something as if it is a microphone. I also have to use timer so I can choose subject that matches with the specified time. I also learn from my classmates’ performance at the first session.
When the time comes, I have self confidence to say all the material in the right time as I can control the situation and I master the material to be presented. I will use the microphone with the left hand, and my right hand will help my explanation. I will always smile during the presentation and look through the audience with my bright eyes.
I will walk closer to my classmates to make an eye contact with them. One thing for sure, I will speak with a good tone and rhythm. Not too slow but not too rush. Physical performance is also important. I must pay attention with my hair, my make-up and my apparel. Because I feel good, I will enjoy the whole time, no pressure at all.
Finally, the best tip is pray before act. I believe that with God’s help everything will be ok. So, I will...
