Describe the experience
What was the ethical issue did you experience?
The ethical issue I first experience in university is the issue of engaging in drinking and sexual behavior with friends. This is the first time when I was exposed to the environment as emphasized by Adler et al. (1962) with a lot of freedom. And I was to decide on my own what to do and what to avoid.
Who was involved?
Johnny and Freddy were involved in this as they were the one who wanted to introduce me to drinking and sexual behavior in the campus. They seem to be used to the behavior though we had just met in the campus, and I did not know their background.
What was the relationship to the other parties?
Both Johnny and Freddy were my roommates in campus. Johnny doubles up as my course mate though we came from different regions and different tribes. They were general just friends that we met in the campus.
Analyze the dilemma
Was there difference in power and authority? Explain
There was no much difference in power and authority amongst us though Johnny was our class representative and thus may have had undue influence on me. I found him to be trustworthy as our boss and could depend on his decisions since he had some authority as a class representative.
What was the ethics in question?
The ethical value in question was to engage in drinking and partying and sexual behavior with my friends, which are Johnny and Freddy, who seem to be obsessed with these behaviors. Moral virtues were under threat in this case, and I was to decide on the right path to take. My personal behavior, virtues and norms were under threat since I was brought up in a Christian family were bible teachings were strictly adhered to.
