The sharp growth in the amount of sales Anmichelle's Boudoir has begun to reevaluate its current efficiency. The small to medium retail store specializes in the merchandising of customized products and specialty items that cater to females. It is in need of expansion in its IT capabilities, improvement in operations, including sales, inventory, marketing and, accounting. Once these improvements are made, it will help to introduce the boutique into a larger market.
Examination of the Company Needs
The inefficiency of its paper-based system is a major factor in the capabilities of the company's future growth. The current system has resulted in the misappropriation of accounting functions which would cause Anmichelle's a legal problem in the very near future if the store is to remain on this course. The mishandling of customer information has resulted in the numerous accounts being lost. The lack of a quality inventory tracking system has led to a serve problem in overstock and lost inventory. Currently there is no exposure though the Internet.
Addressing the Needs
The network configuration that would best suit Anmichelle's Boudoir would consist of a star topology configuration (Malaga, 2005). While servicing all areas of the business this topology will continue to run well. The configuration is a good fit for a small to medium sized business with room to grow and as it expands the ability to reconfigure the network will require little to no difficulty.
Four personal computers (PC) stationed at the store location. The following items will be included in the configuration a mainframe computer, eight input devices (four mouse and four keyboards), four monitors and a hard drive for secondary storage. A centralized hub will be linking a variety of devices together with computers.
