Can Guns be Controlled?
Weapons have been around since the beginning of civilization. They have been used for various means. Weapons became more advanced with the introduction of the gun. This weapon can be considered one of the deadliest of all weapons. Guns are used in both good acts and bad. They have been the object used in most killings. The topic of gun control soon came up in society and has been a hot topic ever since. Gun control has been considered a way of limiting the number of gun related crimes within society. However, gun control will only restrict the Second Amendment and self-defense; it will also not stop the illegal purchase of guns and will not reduce school or world violence.
Gun control can be helpful sometimes; it can help limit the number of guns sold by legal dealers, it can also stop guns from getting into the wrong hands. The basic meaning of Gun control is to limit the number of criminal activities in society. In 1998 to 2004 a poll was taken showing that sixty-three percent of people want stricter gun control laws (“Adult poll” 1).Over half of the general public want gun control laws. These laws could possibly keep families safe from robberies and crimes. They feel that this could keep Gun control laws will help limit the number of guns sold to the general public. It can also at times prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands. Gun control supports have several rustications set in place for those who want to buy guns. Guns cannot be sold to “convicted criminals, drug addicts, illegal aliens, and fugitives from justice” (Aitkens 48). These restrictions, along with others, can help reduce the number of crimes in society. It will prevent gun dealers from selling guns to criminals just for profit. Gun control laws will help from guns getting into hands of convicted criminals, and because of the restrictions, it will limit the number of guns sold by dealers.
