Being a part of a team means that participation is very important as well as contribution through suggestions or decision making. It has come to the attention of BWC Consulting that CanGo has a team that is lacking in interest whenever it comes time to generate new ideas or make contributions to and for the company. Having a team with a lack of interest is an issue because it also means that the team isn’t motivated to do anything. Whenever the team isn’t motivated, the entire company, CanGo, experiences a number of problems. Their employees have poor attitudes and don’t care to get projects done. Secondly, deadlines are missed, work is late, and sometimes the work isn’t even done. When the employees are not interested in anything that they are doing, it shows.
The suggestion that BWC Consulting gives CanGo is that in order to gain your employees interest, it starts at the top with management. It is obvious that the team members are not very motivated on finding new ways to expand, therefore, management is stuck trying to make decisions without the input from their employees which in turn could be a disaster. Management needs to find ways to motivate their team members in order to get their interest back. “A study by Bersin and Associates revealed that companies that provide ample employee recognition have 31% lower voluntary turnover rates than companies that don’t—a good sign that those employees are happier” (Forbes). BWC Consulting recommends that CanGo should being to recognize their employees for their hard work and reward them for such work. Another suggestion to get the team members more interested in the tasks at hand is have a competition and offer a reward at the end for the best idea, project, etc. Each manager does these things differently, so make sure that your employees are comfortable with public recognition first and foremost.
