Career Development Plan Part II – Development of Training and Mentoring Program
A business implements new training methods and mentoring to develop a more knowledgeable and efficient workforce. Companies such as Motorola, General Electric, U.S. Robotics, and dedicate over four percent of their payroll to the training of its employees (Casico, 2009). This paper will attempt to access the three points that translate training hours into successful business. First, understanding the different types of training available and how they relate to real time business. Second, how these different types of training relate to time. Finally, how exactly does one evaluate if the training has been successful.
New training and mentor needs
Taking the time to effectively train and mentor employees can be valuable to corporate success. Preparing adequate training session can become a difficult task. Businesses know have a variety of ways to train their employees from. “Training consists of planned programs designed to improve performance at the individual, group and/or organizational levels. Improved performance, in turn, implies that there have been measurable changes in knowledge, skills, attitude, and/or social behavior” (Casico, 2009). When this definition is considered, training that does not meet this concept of improved performance should be considered as irrelevant and a waist of company time. To ensure that these standards are meet human resource departments must consider several things. The first being what outlet the training should derive from. The traditional platforms would be verbal communication (meetings, seminars conference calls, etc.)
