It was a picture perfect day in Boston, on April 15 2013 at 2:50 pm, but then tragedy struck.Boston was in danger. Innocent People went down as they cheered on the runners waiting for them to cross the finish line.As people realized what was happening and looked around,they saw blood pouring on the pavement,People screaming in pain.One man that stood out out of everyone,an ordinary cowboy. He is known as the hero of Boston on this day.


Carlos Arredondo is 54 year old from Costa Rica. As h grew up he liked to be in the action. Volunteering at the local firehouse.Carlos liked jumping into the scene,rushing towards the car accidents and emergencies to help people. Then he became the one in the action of bullfighting and running towards the injured and fallen people. His oldest son Alex enlisted in the marines and wanted to be apart of fighting for our country. After 9/11 war in Iraq became worse and in 2004 the head marine told him that his son died by a Marine sniper who shot a bullet to his head.The family took this hard especially Carlos second son Brian. Then the unthinkable happened, In 2011 Brian committed suicide due to the post traumatic stress after losing his brother. Carlos became depressed but he still continued to give and keep going.


The man known as “The Man with the Cowboy hat” is a hero. He didn't have to go save people that were in pain but he chose to because thats how he reacts in times like this. Bombs turned the marathon into a race for survival. (Fame) Carlos went right towards the action and ran towards the helpless people. He described it as “Tangled bodies, and blown-off limbs while the air smelled sulfurous, like rotten eggs”. Tons of people laying on the pavement in pain motionless.One man who was there cheering on his girlfriend that was right next to the people that set the bombs off, The man that will always remember this day as the day that his life was saved by a hero.
