A Jewish Teenager
Yesterday was the coldest by far, the scariest and the most emotionally draining of my dreadful, discriminative and miserable never-ending life. They yelled, shouted and screamed at us. Words of discouragement you could make out part but not whole. “Death to him …. the one who wore the star…..he brings great great shame upon our proud nation. …. blonde hair blue eyes you are nothing but….. worthless…..you do not fit his description ….” They yelled these words time and time again. To me, a Jewish teenager, it was a requirement not a need to be this way, but to Hitler it was what a perfect German child and citizen was described to be, needed to be. But he sought vengeance, redemption for not only himself, by his proud proud country and because of this he believed that I and my people were anything but. My beliefs, my culture, my way of life had been discriminated against since young because of Hitler. They rewrote their schooling, their history and their entire viewing points because Hitler and his followers contained such hatred towards us, my strong people. They shaved our heads so no warmth could be contained, so death would come fast (the easy way out as some described it to be). We knew why we’re here. To die. Some lucky, I guess you could call them, Jewish people had enough money to take them far away from Nazi Germany. But we couldn’t. All of our money couldn’t buy us our freedom. Their hatred to only cage us in yet again. It began when the German storm troopers had raided our home. They forcibly deprived us of basic needs and brought us here. We were shoved off the railway line. My mother and I were pushed and thrown in different directions, two entirely different gates but two very similar futures. The tears from the children from families being ripped apart could have turned into a sea at any given time. No child given any mercy. They were age defiant.
