Cell phones pose dangerous threat when being used while driving. When people use cell phones on the road, they threatened the life of not only themselves, but also others around them. Many may think that sending a text message or calling someone while driving once or twice can’t hurt. However, researchers at the Texas Transportation Institutes Center for Transportation Safety at Texas A&M University did a study on how cell phone use affects the driver. With this study, they measured driver ages sixteen to fifty-four and their reaction times with cell phone use and without. When the data was collected, this study proved that the reaction time with the use of a cell phone almost doubled what it would be without. This shows that the driver has less time to react in a sudden danger, which could possibly save a life. Put down that cell phone, it can wait. The National Safety Council (NSC) estimates that twenty-four percent of wrecks are caused by the use of a cell phone; meaning about 1.4 million crashes are caused by the use of a cell phone. On the other hand, only 200,000 of those crashes are caused by text. Talking on the phone while driving is more harmful than one would think and by just holding that phone to your ear can increase the risks of developing brain damage or ever cancer.
Scientists have been studying radiation from cell phones and the health problems it could cause since the 1930’s with James Clerk Maxwell’s theory and have come up with astonishing information. The question that has been asked is if cell phone radiation can damage the human brain or even produce cancer. James Clerk Maxwell proposed the theory of electromagnetic radiation, which is energy radiated in the form of a wave as a result of the motion of electric charges. Cell phones give off energy in the form of radiation, which could be harmful to the brain with excessive use over the past few years. Radiation given off from cell phones is different form x-rays and nuclear power...
