Academic Writing Assignment – Semester 1

Write a 1000-1200 word essay on one of the questions below.
The choice of essay title must be agreed with your writing tutor before you write the outline of your essay.
Once titles are recorded and signed, no changes will be accepted without a valid reason and the agreement of your tutor.
To be handed in to the CLS office on Wednesday 20th February by 15.30 p.m.
Your essay must be word-processed, with at least 1.5 line spacing. The pages should be numbered and stapled together on the left.
You must attach to your assignment a signed and dated cover sheet containing your name, student number and the full title of the essay as agreed by your tutor (attached).
You must submit photocopies/printouts of all sources (other than those given on Blackboard) used in the essay – if you cannot provide these sources please do not use them in the essay. Source material must be in English.
Your essay should be fully referenced with in-text citation and a reference list using the Harvard system.
Mark the number of words used at the end of the essay. (i.e. Word Count = 1135 words)
