FACT SHEET: CGA-CPA Transition students
Important: Centennial College students who are not yet registered in the CGA program
Background
CGA Ontario has unified with CPA Ontario. CGAs became members of CPA Ontario on July 2014. The CGA program of professional studies will end in September 2015. Students in the CGA program will continue in the CGA program until September 2015, at which time those with academic requirements remaining will transfer to the CPA program.
What does this mean for Centennial College students?
Are you a student currently enrolled in any accounting diploma program and intend to pursue the accounting designation in Ontario?
If you have answered “Yes” and you have not registered in the CGA program as yet, then you need to pay close attention to the following:
Given the recent changes and the transition period ending September 2015, your first aim is to become a CGA transition student even if you do not have the full requirements for designation as yet (degree and work experience).
Step 1:
Start planning for the CGA transfer credit enrolment evaluation deadline: August 31, 2015
Get all the documentation ready to complete a transfer credit evaluation for the CGA program (this may take time, so plan early and ahead of the deadline date)
You will only be required to pay the transfer credit evaluation (TCE) fee but the basic tuition fee (BTF) will be waived.
You will not be required to enroll in a course upon submitting a transfer credit evaluation
