Children and Technology: How technology negatively affects the youth of today.
Introduction
Technology has impacted society in many different ways, several of which have brought forward great inventions and major advances in the way we live our daily lives. However, when technology has been introduced to our children the impact has been negative. Children have always been curious and wanting to learn different things and parents throughout the years have changed the ways their child learns. Children now have their own phones and even their own laptops to play games and talk to their friends. Society has changed tremendously in the past 20 years with children and technology. They are labeled as the digital children, and today’s children will bring great things in the future. But with great advances in technology there are side effects and we as a society have to take the good with the bad. Technology has a negative impact on children’s social skills, family bonding, and physical fitness.
Poor Social Interaction
The overuse of technology by children can result in poor social skills. Interacting online versus a social setting is a different set of rules. When children play video games there is a certain anonymity whereas in a social setting the child does not have that anonymity. While interacting with others, children can portray any behavior online but in person they act differently. This leads to the pressing question, are parents allowing too much freedom in what their children are doing online?
