Choice is an illusion. In reality, our lives are controlled by the society in which we live. Society seems like they control most of what we do but not everything. Society only makes your choices for you if you let them. People rely on other people to make their choices for them when you have a chance to decide for yourself. Do not let society determine how you think or what you should do. Choice is a basic right and we have the power to make a choice in everything, no matter what the circumstances are even though those choices are limited. Society is mostly formed by its people and most people do not think for themselves. People think that since society controls our lives that they do not have to make decisions for themselves and will trust society to do so. Sometimes with society making your choices it comes with consequences that you have to risk. We are still presented with options in which we can choose from. Within the tolerance limits of society, there are still plenty of options available whether we realized it or not. Choice is a matter where we exercise our decision-making power on. Some argue that choice is an illusion and that our decisions are shaped by the constraints of the society we live in. Others argue that choice is a basic right and we have the power to make a choice in everything, no matter what the circumstances are. Of course, when discussing the freedom of making choices, we must also take into consideration the degree of freedom allowable in each society. Degree of freedom varies from society to society. Liberal and democratic countries provide more areas of exercising the power of choice on such as political and social sphere. Societies that are more conservative and autocratic tend to infringe on more areas of personal freedom. It is undeniable that there are forms of societal controls that influence our process of decision making.
