Christopher Paul Gardner, who is the man of the hour, is a person you and I know should both know. That is if you read the popular book (that was named New York Times and Washington Post #1 bestseller) called “ The Pursuit Of Happyness”. The book was also turned into the famous movie that was nominated as an Academy award winning film that grossed and earned $163 million and $300 million worldwide.
Anyways the man was born February 9, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he experienced poverty, domestic violence, alcoholism, sexual abuse and family illiteracy. Chris grew up as a bastard and was the second child born to his beloved mother Bettye Jean Triplett. The one thing that stuck with him throughout his life was strong spiritual wisdom his mother taught him. The wisdom she gave was that in spite of where he came from, he could start over and achieve whatever goals he set for himself.
After high school Gardner went straight to the navy, who he was discharged by while staying in San Francisco. While there he married a girl named Sherry Dyson and decided he would become a doctor, knowing that it take many years to complete his education in medicine. After three of marriage he had an affair with a co-worker who later had his first child. Once that happened his wife left him and his son to take care of their selves, forcing them out on to the streets.
At that point he decided to make career change to be a stockbroker in order to provide for his child. It was then he applied for an internship at Dean Witter Reynolds, in which he became the top trainee. Then by 1982, Gardner passed his licensing exam on the first try and became a full employee of the firm. Eventually, he was recruited by Bear Stearns & Company in San Francisco, from 1983-1987 where he became a top earner. Yet still he still struggled and strived on without an actual residents.
