I. Summary of the Plot

This story is called City of Ashes. This is the sequel to City of Bones. When you here the title, you kind of think why is the title this way. Well the book never really explains its title. What I got from the title is that the city is in turmoil and on the verge of destruction. In the book there is Clary, the main character. In the previous book Clary was fighting to get her mother back. At the end of the book she finally gets her back. There was a twist though; her mother was stuck in a comma of some sort. While she has her mother, Valentine is still at large.

After finding out that Hodge had betrayed them, Jace, Isabelle, and Alec were left on there own. One after noon after fighting a dragon demon, they go home. When they get home they come to find out that their mother is back. Marse their mother just stares at Jace and wants to speak to him in private. Marse does not trust Jace anymore now that she knows that his father is Valentine. After the lecture from Marse he is kicked out and is torn apart from this. He goes and starts trouble at a restaurant for Downworlders. This is when the killings start.

While trouble is going on inside a werewolf leaves and when another werewolf leaves he comes rushing back. The one werewolf was killed and some of his blood was drained. When Jace goes back to the institute, the Inquisitor is there. In the Shadowhunter world, when the Inquisitor comes it means you’re in some type of trouble. Now that the Inquisitor knows that Jace is Valentine’s son, she wants to keep watch under him. She believes that he is a spy for Valentine.

This Inquisitor believes that Jace is lying to her. Her psychotic idea is to put him in the Silent City for a night. Only the worst of the worst prisoners go to the Silent City. Jace was not a criminal. While Jace is in the cell, he starts to feel frightened. Jace never feels...
