Religion, not general values but particular, passionate faiths, it had influenced many Americans thought out the decades, as religion being practice more widely spread out; it became not only influenced to ourselves but elections for local school board members, governors, and presidents but also refigured many Americans’ everyday conversations and energized social activism on different side of many social issues.
What is the relation between religions and civic engagement and how we review religion from civic engage point of view. First, mostly civic groups are voluntary associations like White Citizens’ Council, Women breast cancer group, and fraternal associations. Civic group members’ focuses on providing for each of their members also towards their community. Even though not all civic groups are like that, but most of them are pursue and create a good society through their vision. Therefore, is the relationship between religion and civic engagement positive or negative? To me this answers still lies in and it is truly depended on us, how individual reviews and perceive it. It could be positive because religion still plays as a role of predictor for civic engagement level. For example, strongly practiced religious people are more active in voluntary associations, such as donate money or give blood to charity associations, cancer walks. Most of them through practice in religion, believe in religious will learned somewhat to act more altruistic, more willing to help others, and are more encouraged to participate in their community. However, it also could be negative. Religion could as practice or study in ethics but when it oversteps its bounds into politics and absolutism tilts the balance decidedly to the negative. Even though the very first words of the Bill of Rights guarantee that Congress or any level of government will favor no particular religion, while ensuring that Americans can freely exercise their religious beliefs.
