College Entrance

Don’t you think its funny how people trust God in almost everything they do? How they talk to this one being they can’t see and how they wait patiently for his answers to their questions? It’s like before they take action, it’s a requirement that they ask him first about his opinion or advice. They ask him how to respond to certain questions, how to act on certain issues, and what to choose when making decisions over things one has to face a million times in the course of his/her life. They even spend time reading his word, allotting a space in their schedule to read this thick black book. What’s strange is that the questions they ask him could be answered by them their selves and the time they spend on him could be allotted on other important things; nevertheless, they still do it.
I actually was one of the people who do those things. Every night, before I sleep, I’ll do my quiet time. It is already in my schedule to read the bible and to spend some time talking to him. When I have a problem regarding a relationship, I go to him and ask him what to do and what to say to mend it. And before every exam, I pray for his help so that I could remember the lesson I studied the night before.
But being a student in the most prestigious school in the country is very difficult. Sometimes, even if you spend the whole night studying, you could still not get an uno on your exams. The teachers give out homework almost everyday that it’s rare to find yourself at home with nothing to do. You have to sleep late to finish everything in time. And usually, most of the long exams are to be taken and the projects are to be submitted on the same week, resulting in a week with little sleep accompanied by lots of stress and headaches.
As a Pisay student, I have to adjust my bedtime to complete my requirements in both the academic and spiritual world. I frequently have to sleep late to accomplish both of these. As the school year progresses, the lessons are much harder that sometimes,...
