Throughout time, sports have drastically changed and become more and more intricate. American football is easily the most popular sport in the United States. Fans love to watch it, and boys love to play it. Football is commonly played among males anywhere from seven to forty-seven years old. As football has progressed, it has obtained many different rules and divisions. The two most famous leagues of football are the National Football League (NFL) and the NCAA (National College Athletic Association). It is clear there are significant differences between the National Football League and the National College Athletic Association.
Football is not only a sport, but changes the lifestyles of the players. In college, football is played as a school activity. It can be a hobby, or a way to pay for school (through scholarships). These athletes have a lot to handle, trying to balance the college lifestyle, getting good grades, staying in shape, and going to practice and games, all while working towards a college degree. In college football, after four to five years the student athlete will graduate, and their football playing years typically come to an end. Sometimes a college player will become lucky enough to be drafted into the NFL. In professional football, the game is played as a career. Professional football players sign contracts with a team, guaranteeing they will play for a certain number of years on that team. It would be unlikely for a NFL football player to have a job other than playing football. These athletes still have to balance their personal lives, and their job. Because their job is playing football, the professionals have the ability to focus more on the game. They can work harder on staying in shape and working together with their teammates, because they have more time available then a college football player.
