Blogging- allows users to create their own blog domain to put up their own self made information. Two examples are Blogger and Wordpress.
Social networking- gives people worldwide a place to put pictures, videos, and interact with friends and family anytime and any place. Three examples are Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
Email/ chatting- gives users a chance to email one another globally. Web conferencing and online chat rooms are popular features. Examples are MSN, Yahoo, and Gmail.
Massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORG, is online gaming. It allows users to role-play through an avatar. Examples areaddictinggames.com, Newgames.com, and Miniclips.com.
2. What are the greatest benefits of social media for individuals and society?
The greatest benefit of social media for individuals and society are first the ability to stay in touch with friends and family worldwide. That ability to add picture and videos are great. It is also very convenient. As family and friends move away you can still be linked and stay “in the loop” on social media sites. When a business makes an effort to find their customers on social networking sites they are able to keep informed about what people are saying about their business. They can also keep up to date with what people like, dislike, and what they want and do not want. Businesses can establish a presence on the internet and use social media tools to become more familiar to both current and potential customers. People on social media sites can search for things via relevance and may discover a company that offers just what they are looking for but was completely unfamiliar with.
